Accessing ProctorFree (How-to Guides)

Users of ProctorFree's services access in one of three ways:

  1. An integrated learning management system (Integrated)
  2. Logging in to ProctorFree's web portal (Unintegrated)
  3. Through a custom integration with an institution's test delivery engine (API)

Integrated Learning Management Systems

Users of supported integrated learning management systems will access via Single-Sign-On and will not need a separate username and password.

Currently, ProctorFree offers integrated solutions for the following learning management systems. Select yours below to review the launch process:
Canvas/Instructure
  1. Log into your Canvas account via the link provided by your institution
    1. Once logged in, navigate to your Course page
    2. Select the ProctorFree Student Portal from within the Course
  2. Select your Exam from the list of available exams
    1. Follow the prompts to download and install the ProctorFree Desktop Application
    2. Once ProctorFree is installed, select the link again for their exam from the Desktop Application download page to launch
  3. ProctorFree's Desktop Application should launch and immediately begin the System Check and progress through subsequent steps
  4. After all steps are completed in the ProctorFree Desktop Application, a new browser tab or window will be opened to your exam start page.

Moodle/Moodle Cloud
  1. Log into your Moodle account
    1. Navigate to your Course page
    2. Select the ProctorFree Student Portal from within the course
  2. Select your Exam from the list of available exams
    1. Download and Install ProctorFree's Desktop Application
    2. Select the link again for your exam from the Desktop Application download page to start the launch
  3. ProctorFree's Desktop Application should begin the System Check and progress through subsequent steps
  4. After all steps are completed within the ProctorFree Desktop Application, a new tab will be opened to the exam start page

D2L/Brightspace
  1. Start by logging in to your D2L account and navigating to your course.
    1. From the course page, you will need to access the Course Content section
  2. Within the Course Content section, there should be a ProctorFree section where your institution has placed the ProctorFree Student Portal link
    1. Select the ProctorFree Student Portal link
    2. Select an available exam
    3. Download and install the ProctorFree Application
  3. The application will launch, and after completing System check and Authentication, the exam will launch in a new tab/window automatically

Skilljar
  1. Log in to your Skilljar account
  2. Select a proctored lesson
  3. You should then see a page to "Set up Proctoring" as well as the lesson name and any descriptive text
  4. Clicking "Set up Proctoring" will bring you to the ProctorFree application download page
    1. Download and install the desktop app as normal
  5. The application will launch, and after completing System check and Authentication, the exam will launch in a new tab/window automatically
  6. Once you launch your session, a new browser tab will open to the Exam Start page
  7. Start the exam and submit when complete!

Jenzabar
  1. Log into their Jenzabar account & navigate to your course
    1. Select your Exam from the course.
    2. Choose an Available Exam from the next page.
  2. Download and Install ProctorFree's Desktop Application.
  3. Once installed, select the link again for their exam from the Available Exams page to launch ProctorFree.
  4. ProctorFree's Desktop Application should begin with the System Check and progress through subsequent steps.
  5. After all steps are completed within the ProctorFree Application, a new tab/window will open to the exam start page

Digital Chalk
  1. Log into your DigitalChalk course
  2. Select the exam link to launch the embedded ProctorFree Student Portal.
  3. Within the ProctorFree Student Portal page, select an available exam
  4. Follow instructions on screen to download & install/launch the ProctorFree application.
  5. ProctorFree's Desktop Application should begin with the System Check and progress through subsequent steps.
  6. Once launched, the ProctorFree application will redirect you back to their exam start page within the DigitalChalk platform

Unintegrated

If your institution requires proctoring for work completed outside of an integrated learning management system or customer test delivery engine, ProctorFree offers a web portal for users to log in and get started with ProctorFree.

The login portal can be located at https://exam.proctorfree.com/. Users who log in through the web portal will also receive an Account Setup Email from ProctorFree when the institution creates their account.

If you are not able to set up your account within 24 hours of receiving the setup email, you can request a new one by utilizing the Forgot Password link on the login page.

After logging in, users will be redirected to their institution's exam delivery platform; an institution-specific login may be required to access the desired content.

Custom Test Delivery Engine (API)

Some institutions may build our API directly into their test delivery or user portals. Methods for accessing ProctorFree through your institution's custom test delivery engine may vary.

Unlike our standard LMS integrations, API connections are uniquely built for each institution.
